Instructors teaching in Summer 2022 are invited to join the Online Learning Academy for a series of virtual workshops informed by our own teaching experience and our work supporting A&S instructors with their online and in-person courses. The workshop series is framed around three key elements of course design and delivery:
Workshop I: Setting Expectations – Monday, May 2, 2022, 2–3:30 pm EDT
Effective practices for calibrating instructor and student expectations of course workload, communication, and conduct in an accessible and inclusive learning environment.
Workshop II: Designing Assessments & Activities – Tuesday, May 3, 2022, 2–3:30 pm EDT
Effective practices for designing and implementing assessments and activities that support learning outcomes and promote accessibility and academic integrity.
Workshop III: Fostering Collaboration & Community – Friday, May 6, 2022, 10–11:30 am EDT
Effective practices for fostering student engagement and a strong learning community in the remote and in-person classroom.
During each 90-minute workshop, members of the Teaching & Learning (T&L) and Teaching Technology Support (TTS) teams will facilitate discussions and answer questions about structuring an effective course, choosing appropriate educational technology tools, and integrating important A&S policies related to teaching and learning. Instructors can also book one-on-one consultations for additional pedagogical and technical support.
